Thurgood Marshall West (Marriott Wardman Park)
This presentation will focus on a new grant project undertaken by the History Department at Marshall University. The initiative will allow faculty to create a series of short videos communicating the history discipline’s core competencies and learning outcomes to students via specific examples and testimonials. The department plan will include messages about the connection between skills, citizenship, and employability. The project will also draw attention to the skills students need to develop in networking and interviewing. One recent graduate has been hired for a full-time position via Americorps, and recently offered a digital history workshop along with nine professors. This type of extended work in the profession will also be highlighted.
