Focus on Teaching Preconference Workshop

Thursday, January 5, 2017: 8:30 AM-12:00 PM
Mineral Hall B (Hyatt Regency Denver, Third Floor)
Chair:
Laura M. Westhoff, University of Missouri–St. Louis

Sponsored by the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in History.

Join us for a hands-on workshop informed by the scholarship of teaching and learning in history (SoTL). Participants gain exposure to the field and develop resources to use in their teaching. Two concurrent working sessions are offered; you choose which best fits you needs: 1) (Re)Designing your Introductory Course to Include Historical Thinking or 2) Getting Started with SoTL Projects in Your Classroom. We welcome all history instructors from seasoned college faculty and high school teachers responsible for Advanced Credit surveys, to graduate students preparing to teach their first class. Plan to bring your syllabus or SoTL research project idea. Veteran faculty and SoTL scholars will also be available for individual mentoring sessions throughout the weekend.

No charge; because space is limited, free advance registration is required. Please note that you do not need to pick up your badge before attending the pre-meeting workshop. We look forward to seeing you there.
