St. Luke’s Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital now form a combined medical system run by a large corporate conglomerate. But their origins were very different. Both began in the Social Gospel and Progressive searches for societal improvement that prompted men and women to commit time and resources to help heal their fellow humans.
Dr. Rebecca Hunt will present the early history of these two institutions and weave them into the complex story of Denver, Colorado’s search for solutions to the ills of industrialization and immigration at the end of the nineteenth century and the early decades of the twentieth.
