Completed in 1889, the Georgia State Capitol is a National Historic Landmark that houses the offices of the governor, lieutenant governor, and the secretary of state. The General Assembly meets in the House and Senate chambers from January to April. The capitol also houses the state museum on the fourth floor. The tour will focus on the history of the building and the 13-year project, completed in 2007, to restore the building to its 1889 appearance.
Please note: Participants will travel to the capitol by bus. The building is accessible. Participants must show a photo ID in order to enter the building; bags will be searched.
