Session Abstract

Drawing on lessons learned from and practices associated with the non-profit Gardner Institute’s Gateway to Completion course transformation project, this workshop will provide faculty with opportunities to learn about and plan to apply methods for improving student engagement and learning in U.S. history survey courses.  The session’s facilitators have experience working with faculty within and across institutions to help improve learning and success in gateway  courses. Participants can expect the session to combine short overviews of specific content and methods as well as exercises that will allow them to consider specific strategies that they can apply in their own courses upon returning to their institutions.
