The Green Revolution in South Asia

Doug Hurt will analyze the effects of science technology and politics on agricultural improvement and reform by discussing the debates between agricultural scientists and social scientists over the benefits of the Green Revolution.  Emphasis will be placed on the effects of agricultural science on political decision making and social change as well as address the introduction of genetically modified crops as a new and political contentious aspect of the Green Revolution.
