Session Abstract
This panel examines the role of history and historical memory in the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. How has history been invoked and manipulated by various participants and stakeholders? How have direct participants in the conflict been invoking history to frame the conflict? How have international commentators been invoking historical analogies ("appeasement," for example) to make sense of it and defend particular political strategies?
