Session Abstract

David Brion Davis recently published the third book in his trilogy on the problem of slavery--adding The Problem of Slavery in the Age of Emancipation (2014) to his immensely influential The Problem of Slavery in Western Culture (1966) and The Problem of Slavery in the Age of Revolutions. This panel will discus the evolution of scholarship on slavery and abolition, as well as the scope and influence of Davis's work.
