Some Simple Strategies on Historical Causation
Friday, January 2, 2015: 1:00 PM
Sutton Center (New York Hilton)
Participants will engage in a sample lesson highlighting a few learning activities designed to demonstrate to participants how to intentionally integrate historical causation into any history course. The facilitator will also point out how these activities are linked to the new AP European History Curriculum Framework. World War I will be used as an example, but time will also be given to discuss how these activities can be easily adapted to the causes and effects of any major historical event. The primary activity will be a “Four Corners” modified debate that will evolve into participants working together to transfer their opinions/arguments into thesis statements.
