Teaching American History Now, Tomorrow, and Forever: Learning American History in a Post-racial World

An exploration ofJosué Rey the dynamics involved in teaching American History that includes race, gender, and class to a multi-cultural group of community college students. Additionally, this presentation will highlight the difficulties and nuisances associated with teaching American History from a black male perspective to a largely white student population. In fact, this analysis assesses how American History is understood, processed, and promulgated by briefly examining the background and intellectual development of the author. Moreover, a broad analysis of societal efforts to forge race neutral policies and its effect upon learning among community college students will be undertaken.
