Integrating Pacific and Atlantic Histories into the U.S. History Survey
Monday, January 5, 2015: 11:00 AM
Gramercy Suite A (New York Hilton)
Gerald Betty will discuss the process of integrating Pacific and Atlantic histories into the U.S. History survey at Del Mar College in the Fall 2014 semester. Among the issues briefly discussed will be coordinating topics and themes among colleagues, major lessons regarding Pacific and Atlantic History, and various ways to get feedback from each professor. The presentation will also highlight some of the practical challenges of coordinating face-to-face and online lessons between different professors and classes. The goal of this effort is to encourage students and professors to expand their focus beyond the North American British colonies in the early United States History survey.
