Sunday, January 4, 2015: 11:30 AM
Murray Hill Suite B (New York Hilton)
I will raise the question of how women’s demands for economic and political rights in the nineteenth century, and for liberation in the late twentieth century, have influenced the democratic impulse and expanded democracy. My presentation will select moments when demands to extend women’s voice have produced permanent shifts in cultural assumptions, family expectations, and social welfare policies.
