Valeska Huber: Multiple Mobilities: Controlling Movement in the Middle East: The contribution will develop how different empires, such as the Ottoman, French and British, as well as public and private interest driven actors cooperated and competed in the Middle East. As an example I will analyze the Suez Canal as a space marked by a particularly complex set of different levels of sovereignty as they tried to regulate multiple mobilities that coincided and interacted at this global crossroad.
