Session Abstract
This session marks the retirement of Wm. Roger Louis as the Director of the National History Center, an initiative of the American Historical Association that he was instrumental in establishing and leading. It will focus on Louis's extraordinary accomplishments as a scholar, particularly of the British Empire and also on his efforts to deepen history's impact on American public life. The papers will use the occasion to set Louis's work in a broader scholarly and institutional context.
