Vision for the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Inquiry in Social Studies State Standards
Thursday, January 2, 2014: 3:30 PM
Virginia Suite C (Marriott Wardman Park)
Merry Wiesner-Hanks will highlight ways in which the C3 Framework intentionally built on the Common Core Social Studies standards as it was being written to expand on the history-specific disciplinary concepts and tools in the Common Core. She will focus on the mutual college readiness aspects of the C3 Framework and the Common Core, particularly in the use in both of an inquiry-based approach to frame the ways students learn social studies content.
Chauncey Monte-Sato will discuss methods of integrating civic engagement into classroom practices informed by the Common Core Standards as students develop questions, plan investigations, work collaboratively, and communicate their conclusions.
