No One Expects the Spanish Inquisition: Re-integrating Spain and Portugal into the Teaching of European History
Friday, January 3, 2014: 2:30 PM
Holmead Room (Washington Hilton)
Despite their outsized role in European history, from the Crusading Era to the Age of Exploration to the Napoleonic Wars, Spain and Portugal are often neglected in European history courses. This discussion will argue for a larger place for both countries in European history courses, as well as providing examples, for use in lecture and experiential learning activities, to achieve this objective in surveys as well as in stand-alone courses on Iberian history.
