The Convent of Jesús María in Mexico City serves as a snapshot to understanding the role of cloistered women in healing and health care in the Atlantic World. The convent itself represented a melting pot of different times of female healers; from indigenous servants who offered their skills as curanderas, to black veiled nuns that trained as nurses in the convent’s infirmary.
