Session Abstract
The International Council on Archives—the world professional organization of archivists—is currently developing an international set of principles on access to archives that should go out for public comment in the summer. The ICA wants comments from groups that affected by access policies including (of course) historians. Trudy Peterson, chair of the committee drafting these standards, will present the principles, and a number of historians who have experienced the challenges of gaining access to archival materials around the world will discuss will comment on their potential utility and value.
