As a former member of selection committees for the NEH, Fulbright, and International Dissertation Research Fellowship (SSRC), I will discuss how to write a compelling grant proposal in light of the aims of specific funders and the selection process itself. Topics for consideration include overcoming disciplinary boundaries, capturing the attention of overburdened panel members, and writing a proposal that is both methodologically sophisticated and empirically substantive.
