In this paper, Dr. Michele Mitchell will be presenting her insights on the research and writing of her current book manuscript project, Idle Anxieties: Race, Gender, and Idleness during the Great Depression. She will specifically explore the inspiration behind her investigation of the racial and gendered nuances of the early twentieth century racial terrain of the Great Depression.
