Martina Duncan and Anne Schlitt will share the critical elements in developing a successful thematic Teaching American History program. In particular, they will share their focus on creating more synergies between K-12 teachers themselves and K-12 teachers and academic institutions; the importance of fostering relationships with local cultural institutions (both for running the program successfully and for creating links between the teachers and those institutions); and how a more holistic content-driven approach allows for both personal development and pedagogical enrichment.
