Panel discussion

Linda K. Kerber has been a signer of historians’ briefs in same-sex marriage cases in a number of states, including  Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Iowa.  She will consider historians’  briefs as an exercise that has made possible a new public history of marriage and sexuality, enriching our understanding of the social and legal history of each state – and of the history of gender relations in the U.S.
