To this day Vicente Lombardo Toledano is remembered for his untiring energy
and ideological fervor as the founder of numerous labor unions, political
parties and newspapers; as a man who participated in major political combats
in Mexico, Latin America, Europe and the United States. His life sheds light
on powerful political forces at work at the national and transnational,
collective and individual levels, with lasting and controversial legacies,
not least on the cold war era.  The paper will present findings from a recent multiarchival research en Mexico, Europe and the U.S., and will examine Lombardo Toledano’s role in influencing Latin America´s labor politics and culture between 1930s and 1950s.
