Gavriel Rosenfeld's presentation, "A Looming Crash or a Soft Landing? Forecasting the Future of the Memory 'Industry,'" argues that the waning of the factors that originally gave rise to both the memory "boom" and the memory "industry" suggests that the broader field of memory studies has probably peaked as a phenomenon within American academia. He concludes by offering some reflections on whether this outcome should be welcomed or bemoaned.
