Malinche has been famously impossible to write about because of a lack of sources about her individual existence. In essence, this same problem applies in innumerable cases of "voiceless" people who have left us no paper trail of their own. Camilla Townsend will talk about the methodologies she used in trying to triangulate among the known sources that surround and embed a person's life, in order to create, if not a richly detailed portrait of an interior life, at least a logically delineated silhouette that is an improvement over shadow and silence.
