One of the major gaps in early African history is the lack of accurate, quality mapping of the continent, particularly before 1800. The WorldMap/AfricaMap project is beginning to address this lacuna. During my presentation I will go live to the WorldMap site and not just discuss "narratives" and early African History, but show people how they work, and demonstrate how easy they are to create (for themselves and their students). I will talk about both research and teaching, and how I do both using AfricaMap and focusing on early African history.
